MONIQUE SLIEDRECHT - PARIS EXHIBITION Treat yourself to a cheeky wee citybreak? If that’s you, and the city in question happens to be Paris, you might be interested to learn that the Warburton Gallery’s very own Monique Sliedrecht has an exhibition, ‘Ebbtide’, on at Le Pavé d'Orsay Gallery in the Rue de Lille from now until May 10 - 23rd. Well worth checking out.

THE DAY AFTER THE NIGHT BEFORE Its May 8th 2015. All is changed, changed utterly, as Yeats put it, a terrible beauty is born. Some have described it as a ‘sea-change’, while others have talked of a ‘seismic shift’, but either way, one thing’s for sure: the gallery looks quite different with the installation dismantled and pictures back on the walls. Well, what did you think I was talking about?

MAY 1st - A SUPERB NIGHT OF BLUES, WHISKY & FILM A big thank-you to everyone who came along last night and made the evening of ‘Kinoblues’ such a success. A big thank-you too to The Blueswater for a storming set, to Jeffrey St Whisky and Tobacco for whisky and talk of whisky and of course to the Irrepressible Igor Slepov for coming up with the concept and curating the films. Watch this space for further upcoming dates.... - Photos from last nights event by Diego Almazán

IDRIS MURPHY - NEW EXHIBITION 2015 Idris Murphy, one half of the Warburton Gallery’s acclaimed ‘Edgelands’ show talks to the BBC about his forthcoming exhibition: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-32316195

FINAL WEEKEND - THE HEART IS A PRIDEFUL BEAST And so we enter endgame – this is the last week of Daniel Domig’s show here at the Warburton Gallery. However you may be pleased to hear that Daniel himself should be on hand tomorrow morning to offer informal exhibition tours and answer any questions you could have. Domig will also be screening his 2014 collaboration with Angela Trondle in Hawick this Saturday, 18th April, as part of the Alchemy Film Festival – www.alchemyfilmfestival.org.uk

EASTER WEEK Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter Weekend! Also a great excuse for a temporary change in opening hours. The gallery cafe downstairs Stag Espresso is open as usual.

OPEN STUDIOS / 28 + 29 March / 11 - 5PM INTRODUCING 5: Murdoch Dandelion The compere of one of Edinburgh’s most successful Open Mic evenings, Bobby will bring some of the performers he has discovered to Stag2 for an evening of live music to kick off the Open Studios Weekend tonight, Friday 27th March at 8pm. It’s a measly £3 on the door, and, even better, it’s BYOB.

OPEN STUDIOS / 28 + 29 March / 11 - 5PM INTRODUCING 4: Allan Robertson Allan describes himself as a painter of industrial landscapes: he paints abandoned cement works and disused quarries; like others before him he has drawn inspiration from port and harbour scene. Allan’s works frequently seem imbued with an elegiac feel, though he is at pains to point out that in the industrial world there is no room for this to teeter over into nostalgia.

OPEN STUDIOS / 28 + 29 March / 11 - 5PM INTRODUCING 3: Janice Parker Janice Parker is a dancer, artist, choreographer, instigator and teacher whose work featured in both the 2012 London Cultural Olympiad and the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She has worked collaboratively with many other artists and dancers, as well as with those who have never danced before, with the elderly and the disabled. For Open Studios, Janice will exhibit videos and photographs from her archive.

OPEN STUDIOS / 28 + 29 March / 11 - 5PM INTRODUCING 2: Igor Slepov Igor’s contribution to the Open Studios weekend will feature a video installation, as well as a sound piece and several collages. The Irrepressible Slepov will also provide the visuals for the live music event in Stag Espresso downstairs, which kicks things off on Friday, March 27th. Tickets available here: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/stag-espresso-presents-ticket…

OPEN STUDIOS / 28 + 29 March / 11 - 5PM INTRODUCING: Benjamin McLaughlin New Zealander Ben McLaughlin is interested in the relationship between technology and consciousness, the violence inherent in masculinity and society’s balance of power and powerlessness. He offers ambiguous glimpses of figures in action, provoking the viewer into completing an implied narrative. For this Open Studios event Ben is creating a room-sized installation which invites you into a theatre of fear and paranoia.

OPEN STUDIOS Deep in the bowels of the Warburton Gallery some very strange folk do dwell. The goblin artists we call them, working away both night and day, never seeing the sun’s healing light. Well all that is about to change, as we throw open the doors to their secret lair. Scowling and blinking they’ll emerge, chuckling, clapping, crowing, clucking, uttering their goblin cry: ‘come buy, come buy’. Or, to put it another way, we will be holding open studios on 28th and 29th March, 11 - 5PM

ECLIPSE - MARCH 20th 2015 Surrealist and pornographer Georges Bataille once claimed that there are three things we can never see directly: death, the genitals and the sun – and might have added, certainly not the sun during an eclipse...

EDGELANDS **** - The List Just in: a Four star review from The List, for our current exhibition 'Edgelands': http://bit.ly/1zBcSwJ – though the speculation here at the Gallery is that it was meant to be a five star job but, a bit like the Sochi Olympic opening ceremony, the fifth star failed to light.
